Former NARAL New York president facing criminal investigation

Manhattan's District Attorney has launched a criminal investigation into the company credit card spending habits of NARAL New York's former president Kelli Conlin.
The investigation came on the heels of a bombshell internal audit that found ex-NARAL Pro-Choice New York President Kelli Conlin siphoned more than $100,000 from the abortion rights group to support her own lavish lifestyle......

NARAL has slipped into the red in recent years, running up a deficit of at least $417,616 in 2009 despite only taking in $310,324 in revenue, according to Post review of its public financial statements.

That year, the charity reported paying only $171,255 in salaries and compensation on its balance sheet, even though it listed elsewhere five employees earning more than $100,000.

Conlin herself claimed a compensation package worth $349,502, including a $90,000 bonus.
Hilariously, the father of New York's attorney general was the treasurer of the group in a year when the group's president "earned" more than the organization brought in.

Here's some of what Conlin spent the organization's money on:
The audit, conducted by the accounting firm Marks Paneth & Shron, details numerous questionable charges on NARAL credit cards by Conlin between 2008 and 2010, including $5,709 worth of high-end clothing at Giorgio Armani and Barney’s and a $17,000 reimbursement on a Hamptons summer rental where Conlin stayed in the summer of 2009.

Between March 2008 and December 2010, Conlin spent just over $100,000 on car service. She often had the driver drop her children off at their school on the Upper West Side, the audit found.

The audit also raised a red flag on more than $22,000 Conlin spent on meals. In some cases, it appears she dined with non-work friends, but it’s unclear what percentage of these charges were personal.
