Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton said the president's offhand remark was not meant to disparage the Special Olympics, only to poke some fun at the commander-in-chief's bowling skills. So he's poking fun at his bad bowling by comparing his bowling to the bowling of individuals with disabilities? And how exactly does that make the joke less offensive?
What's also interesting is that Obama's high score of 129 is lower thanthe average scores of a few local level Special Olympic bowlers from Plano, Texas who bowled more than 10 games.
