"I'm keeping it : D"

A teenage blogger named MLO from Michigan has decided to keep her child after her mom called and told MLO that she wouldn't let her get an abortion.

From previous posts, I'm guessing that MLO is in her second trimester based on the cost of the abortion she was quoted. After telling her parents about the pregnancy and finding them supportive, MLO seemed excited about keeping the child yet her concern for her boyfriend and not wanting "to ruin things for him" seemed to outweigh her desire to keep the child.

  1. Praise God! Another victory for women and children, another defeat for the abortion lobby!

Though this girl still needs prayers and love.

  2. Oh, yeah, such a victory. Did you read the journal? "Liek OMG I want it 2 hav green eyes it wont be ugly!!!!11!" I guarantee that in a year's time she'll be posting her trainwreck story to the LJ MyBabyDaddy community. I feel so sorry for her, because she's about to get hit with a clue by four the likes of which she's completely unprepared for. If you don't believe me, go to MBD and take a look at some of the journals of the posters--almost to a one they ALL started out like this, starry-eyed and OMG THIS IS LIEK SO COOL!!!11!

  3. (Off the subject: JJ, there are two places at the bottom of all your posts where someone could put comments. Is that on purpose? Could you make one of them go away? Pretty please?)

  4. Emily,
The second one I got when I got trackbacks with Haloscan. I tried fooling with my template awhile ago to get rid of one of them but I couldn't figure it out.

Do you know how to get rid of one of them?

Still, she wants to keep her baby, and now she's being supported in her choice. What's wrong with that?

I totally agree. INS webmaster, you have said on your blog that the girls who regret their abortions often all have the same strand of blame-placing in it: "I wouldn't have done it except ______ made me." If this girl is all smiley about getting to keep the baby, she would probably be one of the ones who, in a year or five or twenty, was crying and marching and saying, "I wouldn't have had my abortion except that my boyfriend made me, and I thought it was okay because it was legal!" From a personal, individual perspective, this is the right decision for this girl; and from a more callous, political perspective, it's the right decision. The less women saying they were coerced into doing something because they were scared and malleable, the better. Her life is her life.
